Select Account Type

Note: Beneficiaries do not need to create a "Self" account type in the WCMSAP to submit an attestation for a self-administered WCMSA account. To find out how to manage (self-administer) your WCMSA account and submit attestations, visit go.cms.gov/WCMSASelfAdm.

The Select Account Type page describes Step 1 of the WCMSAP registration process, New Registration. You must have all the information listed on hand. Partial registration requests cannot be saved and completed later.

During the registration process, you are required to first specify an account type (Corporate, Representative, Self, or Professional Administrator).

Refer to the WCMSAP User Guide and the How to Get Started document under the How To menu option for more information on naming an Account Representative and determining the type of account you will need.

The account type selected determines the basic information that is captured during the registration process.

Account Types

CorporateA corporate account type indicates that the submitter is registering as a corporate entity with an Employer Identification Number (EIN). Those registering as a corporate account type will regularly submit WCMSA requests.
RepresentativeA representative account type is for a non-corporate WCMSA user. These submitters do not have an EIN but will be submitting multiple cases.
Self:A self submitter is a Medicare beneficiary, or a future beneficiary, submitting a case or cases on their own behalf. The registrant can only submit cases for themselves. If you are a beneficiary and need to submit an attestation, please log in through Medicare.gov.

Note: Future beneficiaries are individuals with a reasonable expectation of becoming a Medicare beneficiary within 30 months.
Professional AdministratorA professional administrator is a corporate entity registering with an EIN that will be the responsible party for administering WCMSA funds and reporting to Medicare.
